Charlotte native, Reverend Dr. R. Mark King, graduated from Gardner-Webb College (now University) in Boiling Springs, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies/Education. He received the Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky as a Francisco Preaching Scholar and later graduated from Candler School of Theology, Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia with a Doctor of Ministry. Soon after, he completed a Master of Business Administration from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, North Carolina and Master of Accountancy from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Married with three adult children and two grandchildren, Mark retired from the position of Conference Treasurer / Director of Administrative Services (Chief Financial Officer) and itinerant ministry for the Western North Carolina Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church, he now works part time as Chief Financial Offer for Wesley Community Development Corporation and with MinsitryWorksCPA, a certified public accounting firm specializing in church payroll, benefits and clergy taxes. He is also President and CEO of Covenant Accounting Management, LLC, specializing in church accounting and payroll services.
